Location
The
Barjarg Fishings lie on the right (west)
bank. Above are the Mid-Nithsdale
Angling Association waters and below, the Closeburn
Castle beat. Closeburn Castle also has the fishings
on the left bank, opposite Barjarg.
Access
to the beat
From
Thornhill take the A702 to Penpont. At Penpont
turn left (marked "Keir Mill"). Follow this
road for 3.8 miles and the access road for the fishing
(signposted "Boatcroft Farm") is off to the
left.
From Auldgirth
go south on the A76, cross the Nith bridge and take
the 1st road to the right - signposted "Dunscore".
Follow this for about 1.5 miles until you reach a minor
road off to the right - signposted "Glenmidge"
Follow
this for about 3 miles until you pass the gates for
Barjarg Estate You cannot mistake these - large red
sandstone arched gates and gatehouse.
The track for the fishing is signposted "Boatcroft
Farm" off to the right about 400 yards beyond the
Estate gates. The
car park and fishing hut lies to the left of the Farm
at the foot of the track. |
