Location

Blackwood Estate lies covers double-bank fishing northwards from the village of Auldgirth - about 8 miles north of Dumfries on the A76 road.  Above is the Closeburn Castle beat and below, the Dalswinton Estate.

Access to the beat

From Auldgirth go south on the A76, cross the Nith bridge and take the 1st road to the right - signposted "Dunscore".

As shown on the map, the entrance to Blackwood House is on the right, about 400 yards along the road to Dunscore.

The main access for the fishings is just beyond the main entrance. Turn right along the narrow track and follow that along behind the big house.

Permits

Rods are mainly let on an annual basis, but weekly and daily permits are available. For full information, see the Blackwood details on the NFIA Website.
