11
miles of mostly of double bank fishing
The Upper Nithsdale Angling Association beat covers
fishings at the top end of the river. It has over 50
named pools, with a nice mixture of rocky, fast flowing
streams, coupled with long slow flats which allows it
to be fished with all methods.
It
takes its share of salmon and grilse, but it is best
known for it sea trout catches. Although these have
fallen from over 5000 in 1966, the last 5-year average
return is still over 800. |
