Getting to the Nith Valley  

By Road
Just over the border from England, the Nith is within 6 hours drive from London and less than two hours drive from most parts of central Scotland and northern England. The Nith valley is easily reached from the M74 motorway.

The main road (A76) runs through the valley, passing through the principal towns of Dumfries, Thornhill, Sanquhar and Kirkconnel.

By Rail
The Nith valley railway line is connects Carlisle and Glasgow. There is a regular service which stops at stations in Dumfries, Sanquhar and Kirkconnel.

By Air
Dumfries is about 2 hours drive from the airports at Edinburgh, Glasgow and Prestwick. It is less than 3 hours drive from Newcastle airport.
