A
good return for Brian
This
cracking specimen salmon was caught by Brian Buss
from the bridge pool on the lower beat of Dalswinton
fishings on the 20th. October 2006.
It
was caught on the worm, and the fish weighed 21
pounds, after this picture was taken the fish
was sportingly returned to the water unharmed. |

Brian's
account . . .
My
two brothers and I had been fishing the fly in the Bridge
Pool for 4 hrs on Friday morning without a touch. At
about 11.30am I came out of the water to put on a new
leader.Tthat done. I had a sudden notion to put up my
spinning rod for the last hour before we had to vacate
the beat at 1pm, and to try the worm.
Back
in the water, on the 3rd cast as the line was swinging
round I felt the line give 3 or 4 distinct knocks.I
gave a bit more line and waited then all of a sudden
the line went heavy.I raised the rod and the fish was
on.
It
put up a hard fight.stripping yards of line off. First
downstream and then after I managed to turn it, upstream.
After what seemed ages I managed to bring it in towards
the shallow water where one of my brothers netted it.
The fish was well hooked. in the lower part of the mouth
on the right hand side.
P.S.
We finished the week with 7 salmon landed - six of them
returned - as well as playing and losing a further 4
good fish on the fly. |
