Mick Meadows says
"It was just pure luck"

Visitor Mick Meadows took this fresh run 9lb salmon - his first of the season - on 30th July from the Trolley Pool on the Closeburn Castle fishings.

The salmon took about 10 minutes to land. Mick was fishing 2 flies (point - no.10 (treble) Orange Cascade, dropper - no.10 (double) Kate Mclaren. Gave him quite a fight.

He had just landed a nice 3lb sea trout on the Cascade - and a friend was putting it into his car, when the salmon took the Kate McLaren.

He was fishing a 10lb leader and he tells us he tied both of the flies himself. He also tried to claim it was just "pure luck".
